In a bid to promote budding designers, the grand finale of the Lakme Fashion Week saw actress Kareena Kapoor walk the ramp for emerging talents Kallol Datta and husband-wife duo Pankaj and Nidhi.

The designers put up a scintillating show for the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive grand finale last night which

received a standing ovation from the audience including renowned designer Rohit Bal.
Usually established designers like Manish Malhotra, Rohit Bal, Narendra Kumar, Tarun Tahiliani are allotted the grand
finale slot, but this time younger designers were given the chance to bring the curtains down on the five-day fashion extravaganza.
Wearing a black and white knee length dress with jacket and black leggings teamed with stand-out eye make up, Kareena
walked the ramp first for Kallol.
For Pankaj and Nidhi, Kareena looked stunning in a jet black basket woven top with infusions of leather with long
fringe detailing.
This contradicted with ace designer-cum-friend Manish Malhotra's finale outfit in the previous season where she was
the show stopper.
This season she went dark as compared to her angelic look for Malhotra earlier.
"I have been on ramp earlier. I am very happy to be able to encourage new talent. It is an honour to be wearing their
collection on the ramp. I should be thanking them for giving me this opportunity to wear these clothes," Kareena said after the show.
"It was electrifying to see the reception this designers got today," she added.

Many a times stars have walked the ramp at fashion weeks to promote their films, but when asked about the absence of
the cast of her upcoming film 'Heroine', Kareena said, "I am not here to promote my films. I am here to promote Lakme and young designers."
The show, beginning over an hour late, was packed to the brim. What started with a loud applause ended with the audience giving a standing ovation to the designers.
Huge revolving mirror walls serving as a backdrop, happened to be the entry point for the models towards the runway. There were metallic cut outs hanging from the ceiling and music being played in the background.
A common colour story of black and white ran through both the collections. Kolkata-based designer Kallol started his
career few years ago as a Gen Next designer, while Delhi-based Pankaj and Nidhi made their debut in the city for a fashion extravaganza.
"When we got a call for grand finale for this season we could not believe it. It's a great opportunity for emerging
designers like us," Pankaj said.
This season saw collections presented by 86 designers. Big names like Wendell Rodricks, Neeta Lulla, Anita Dongre,
Ritu Beri were on the list, others like Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Narendra Kumar, Rohit Bal, Rocky S, Vikram Phadnis and Manish Malhotra were absent this time.
Budding designers were seen in the forefront this season. Also, for the first time, celebrated couturier Pallavi Jaikishan, with over 40 years of experience in the fashion industry, made her debut on the LFW runway
