Singer Marc Anthony has come to the rescue of a struggling orphanage in the Dominican Republic and will raise money for it through his charity organisation Maestro Cares Foundation.
Sonia Hane, Director of the Children of Christ Foundation, said that Anthony had visited the orphanage in the past and resolved to help the children by raising USD 200,000 for upgrades, reported online media.
The orphanage houses children, who have been abused or abandoned by their parents.
The foundation run by the singer and entrepreneur Henry Cardenas has made plans to help build a new residence hall, baseball field and classrooms for the Children of Christ orphanage in La Romana, Dominican Republic.
A special groundbreaking ceremony was held yesterday which Anthony attended with girlfriend Shannon de Lima.
