Dalit should have been in Lokpal committee: Paswan

Lok Janshakti Party Chief Ram Vilas Paswan on Tuesday said that a Dalit should have been a member in the drafting committee to draft the Lokpal Bill.

He said that the drafting committee should have included one Dalit member as well.

“One dalit activist or leader could have been included by social activist Anna Hazare in the five-member representation from the civil society in the committee constituted for Lokpal Bill,” he said.

He lashed out at Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev and said that h was not wanted in the agitation launched by Anna Hazare.

Paswan said that noted social reformer Mahatma Jyotirao Phule should be conferred with the Bharat Ratna award.

In a separate briefing, Republican Party of India president Ramdas Athawale too lamented that a dalit had not found a place panel to draft the Lokpal Bill.

Athawale said his party workers are against forging an alliance with both Congress and NCP during the elections for 10 municipal corporations in Maharashtra next year.

Mr. Paswan this fight is not raised by the politicians... ask your politician friends in Congress to include a Dalit .. this panel from civil society has place only for Indians not for religions, castes etc. ... I will be happy if these comments are passed to Mr. Paswan

Cast should not be an eligible criteria for anything. Having right qualification and experience for a task should be sufficient. People like Paswan have lost ground in Bihar and elsewhere. The whole RESERVATION system should be abolished first. Being born in a upper caste is a disadvantage today. People like Paswan are giving these statements to gain cheap publicity.

wat the hell.....on one hand we talk about equality and on the other hand we are cribbing about why a dalit did not get a place in the committee???!!! why cant we rise above these caged realms of our mundane life....above all these silly caste/creed/religion/colour...why cant we all fight together against this deadly disease named "CORRUPTION" !!!

There should not be any cast and religion bias in Lokpal committee. Members of this committee should be well educated, experienced and have good faith towards citizens of India. They should try for development of common citizens and abolish corruption from root itself.

I would request Mr. Paswan to restrict his politics for such issue of national interest. Please try to save Country rather than saving your party vote bank. Without India you are nothing. Please try to understand, Citizen of India is not more fool. It is not a Mondal commitee where you need reservation. Any Well-Qualified and representative of citizen can be part of the Bill whether He/She is Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Jain, Christiann, Dalit, OBC, etc.
