At least six people killed and ten others were injured in a massive fire broke out in firecrackers shops Saturday morning in Maharajganj and Kanpur districts of Uttar Pradesh.
The incident took place early morning when the shopkeeper opened the shop in Dhani area market of the district, the police said.
Suddenly a fire broke out in the shop which spread very fast in the whole shop, the shopkeeper said.
Four people including three children died on the spot while seven others were critically injured, the witnesses said.
The injured were admitted to a nearby hospital immediately with the help of the residents of Dhani market.
The reasons behind the incident are yet to be ascertained but it was suspected that a short circuit may have broken the fire.
In other incident in Kanpur two persons killed and three were injured including a woman was injured in the fire in a firecrackers shop.
