Bihar elections: No tickets for criminal

The RJD has decided not to field candidates with criminal backgrounds in the coming Assembly elections in Bihar.

"RJD has taken a principled decision. There is no place for 'bahubalis' in the party," its national spokesman Ram Kripal Yadav said.

The party, he said, has already received 4000 applications for tickets and the prospective candidates would be identified at RJD's parliamentary board meeting on September 7.

The decision on the candidates will be taken later by the party leadership, he said.

Yadav slammed the NDA government's performance in Bihar and said the return of the RJD-LJP alliance was certain as the electorate wanted to vote out the "incompetent" and "corrupt" regime headed by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Meanwhile, JD(U) leader Sajjan Mishra joined RJD along with his supporters.
