Pantaloons to set up more stores

Country's largest retailer Pantaloons on Friday said it would focus on setting up more 'customer friendly' stores in the country.



The company, which runs a chain of outlets like Pantaloons, Big Bazaar, Food Bazaar, KB's Fair Price and rural model Adhaar, has appointed German design firm Bloker and Bloker group for the new look customer friendly stores, Pantaloons Chief Operating Officer Pankaj Tibrewal told reporters here.

"In such stores, we take  customer experience to another level. Store design and merchandise design play an integral part of it," he said.

Tibrewal, who was here to unveil their third store in the city and 56th store in the country, said they would focus on products offer "high quality on clothes" at "affordable prices".

The store is also the company's fifth store adopting new design format, he said. Stating that the company has embarked on Rs 2,100 crore investments over three years, he said they planned to open 55 more stores in the country.

"The investments will help us to expand our business", he said. Of the proposed 55 stores, 30 would be in shopping malls while 25 would be in standalone properties.

Pantaloons recently introduced its 'Green Card' programme which enables customers fill in their basic details. "It is been very encouraging. We just add about one lakh to two lakh customers in the programme", he said.

Currently, there are about 1.8 million customers under the loyalty programme, he said.
