Highly-rated cricketing rivalry in the world, India versus Pakistan, is expected to be resumed in the year 2012, sources said.

According to the sources, the BCCI and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are looking keen to arrange a bilateral cricket series between India and Pakistan.

Both BCCI and PCB feel need to resume the cricket tie between the arch-rivals.

Sources said that BCCI will seek permission from the government in this regard. If Government gives its nod, a series may be hold at a neutral venue between both the countries.

BCCI had snapped all the cricket ties with PCB following November 26, 2008 Mumbai attacks.

However, PCB has been pushing for a series between both the countries since long time but Indian government refused to resume the cricketing tie due to security reasons.

In last few months, financially-weak PCB has come out with a news proposal, which offers a series at neutral venue.

However, PCB chief Ijaz Butt kicked off a controversy on Tuesday when he said that India should come to play a series in Pakistan soil.

Last time Pakistan Team had visited India to play a series but India falied to visit Pakistan to play a compensatory series due to Mumbai attacks.

Now PCB feels that India must play the due compensatory series with Pakistan.

It is worth mentioning here that, no cricket playing nation has been visiting Pakistan to play a series due to rampant militant attacks in the country. Due to no cricket series in Pakistan, PCB has been facing sever financial crisis.

If a Indo-Pak series take place in 2012, it will be a great sigh of relief for the PCB. India-Pakistan cricket series is believed to be a money making machine and it is believed that BCCUI may finalise a series to rescue PCB.

It is expected that Sharjah or Abu Dhabi will be the neutral venue if both the countries are agreed for a series.

India and Pakistan played against each other in a semifinal match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.
