India thrashed Sri Lanka by four wickets to register their first victory in the CB triangular series.
Ravindra Jadeja (24 not out) and R Ashwin (unbeaten 30) took India home after middle order fumble. Chasing a modest total of 234 runs, India lost opener Virender Sehwag early but Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli consolidated the Indian innings with a 75 runs partnership. However, Indian batting Maestro missed another opportunity to score in triple figure. He was dismissed by Angelo Mathews for 48 runs. Rohit Sharma, who was elevated to No.4, failed to impress with the bat and became first victim of Perera. He scored 10 runs. However, Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli added quick runs on board. Raina, who was scoring with a good pace, was dismissed by Mathews for 24. On the other hand, Kohli continued his good form with the bat and scored valuable 77 runs. At one stage, India looked in trouble when Dhoni, Kohli dismissed in quick succession but Jadeja and Ashwin didn’t allow any damage to India and achieved the target with 20 balls remaining. Ashwin was adjudged ‘Man of the Match for his all-round performance with the bat and ball. Displaying a disciplined bowling performance, India restricted Sri Lanka for 233/8 in their allotted quota of 50 overs in the 2nd ODI of CB triseries here at WACA ground in Perth. Electing to bat, Sri Lanka lost opener Upul Tharanga early. Zaheer dismissed Tharanga for just four. However, Tilakratne Dilshan continued building partnership along with Kumara Sangakkara. Duo was looking good when Zaheer stuck again and dismissed Sangakkara for 26 runs. After Sangakkara, Chandimal joined Dilshan in the middle. Dilshan was close to his half century when all-rounder Jadeja sent him pack for 48 runs. Skipper Mahela Jayawardene was also looking in good touch but he became the victim of R Ashwin. Jayawardene scored 23 runs. On the other hand, young Chandimal continued scoring with good pace and scored fifty. He tooped the score with sensible knock of 64 before being dismissed by Ashwin.Ashwin looked impressive in this match and scalped third Sri Lankan batsman Perera soon after Chandimal’s dismissal. Perera scored 7 runs. All rounder Angelo Mathews played valuable innings down the order and was unbeaten for 33 of 28. For India, Ashwin claimed three wickets while Zaheer took one wicket. Jadeja and Vinay Kumar claimed one wicket each. Earlier, Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene won the toss and elected to bat against India in the 2nd ODI here at the WACA ground in Perth on Wednesday. Sri Lanka have made couple of changes in the playing side of last match against South Africa. The islanders are playing with four pacers and seven batsmen.

For the first time after ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 final, India and Sri Lanka will take on each others in the second ODI of Commonwealth Bank tri-series here at the WACA in Perth on Wednesday. Whereas a jittery India have been seeking to return on winning path after 65 runs defeat in the rain-interrupted opening ODI against Australia, the neighbouring Islanders will try to take the World Cup final revenge.
