India defeated Sri Lanka by 21 runs in the first One-day International in Hambantota on Saturday.

Earlier, Virat Kolhi and Virender Sehwag powered India to 314/6 against Sri Lanka here at Hambantota on Saturday.

Electing to bat, Indian batsmen proved skipper MS Dhoni's decsion right. However, India lost the opener Gautam gambhir early but Sehwag and Kohli rescued India after adding 173 runs for the third wicket.

Batsmen have done their job brilliantly and now it is for bowlers to defedn the total.
