Three CWG swimmers in dope net


 

 

In a severe jolt to Indian hopes of medal in October Commonwealth Games (CWG) in New Delhi, three Indian swimmers were ruled out of the game on Sunday.

Three Indian Swimmers Jyotsana Pansare, Richa Mishra and Amar Muralidharan dropped from the India’s swimming squad from the CWG after they failed to pass dope test.

The decision was taken after their sample for dope Test was found positive to banned substance at Sr Natls two weeks back.

Richa and Jyotsana were part of the Indian squad for CWG.

The National Anti-Doping Agency, which conducted the testing, received the results from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) accredited laboratory on Wednesday. Rahul Bhatnagar, NADA director-general, said: "We passed them on to the federations and provisional bans have been imposed as per the WADA rule."

Earlier, four wrestlers, including a woman wrestler and one shotputter also tested positive to banned substance and brought the country to embarrassment ahead of the CWG.

The tainted wrestler includes, Olympian Rajiv Tomar, who had bright chances of winning games in the forthcoming mega event in New Delhi. He was also conferred prestigious Rajiv Gandhi award recently. The other tainted two were Sumit, Mossam Khatri. They have been replaced by Narsingh Yadav, Anil Mann and Praveen in their respective categories. the gemale grappler Gursharanpreet Kaur has been replaced by Anshu Tomar.
