Roger Federer storms into US open semis

Top seed Roger Federer stormed into the semi-final of US Open 2010.

Federer, who is eying 17th grand slam title, defeated Robin Soderling in three straight sets 6-4, 6-4, 6-5 in the quarter-final match of US Open 2010.

Federer will meet Novak Djokovic in the semi-final match of tournament.

The third seed Djokovic booked the semi berth in fourth consecutive year. The Serbian pipped Gael Monfils to set the clash with Federer.

A delighted Federer said that it will be a tough contest against Djokovic but expressed hope a better game in the semi-final.

“We have played in the past and it is Novak’s fourth consecutive semi-final. He will be proved tough opponent,” Federer said.

Roger Federer had defeated Novak Djokovic 7-6 7-5 7-5 in the US Open 2009 semi-finals.
