Pak journalist targeted with grenades

At least six persons were seriously injured when unidentified attackers lobbed grenades into the house of a journalist in the restive Bajaur tribal region of northwest Pakistan, officials said today.

The assailants fired at the home of Syed Zafarullah Banori with automatic weapons and then hurled grenades at around midnight.
The incident occurred in Bai China area, located 14 km from Khar, the headquarters of Bajuar Agency. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital and three
of them, who were in a critical condition, were shifted to Peshawar.

Security forces conducted a search operation in the area after the attack and arrested several suspects. Meanwhile, security forces blew up the house of a wanted militant in Chengazo area and recovered some arms and ammunition. Another wanted militant was arrested during the
operation.
The Pakistan Army is conducting operations to flush out Taliban and al-Qaeda militants who have found a haven in the country's northwest and the restive tribal region close to the borders with Afghanistan.
